Consultant spotlight: Lottie Riddick

By Lottie Riddick

Lottie recently joined us as a Consultant following a successful corporate finance career. We talked to her about her interest in the intersection of sustainability and finance and what you can expect from working with her.

Where does your interest in sustainability stem from?

I have always been passionate about sustainability and love working in a sector that resonates with the most pressing and tangible challenges faced by our clients. Following a Geography with Economics degree from the University of Exeter, I started my career in corporate finance where I advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital funding and investment decisions. During this time, the interlink between risks relating to climate change and the valuation of businesses became increasingly apparent.

With emerging regulations, technological remedies and shifts in consumer behaviour, the question kept coming back to how we can maximise shareholder value in a progressively unstable climate. Following my role in corporate finance, I advised renewable energy private equity and trade buyers on the transactional risks faced by acquisitions. I also developed solutions to use insurance as a mechanism for protecting capital in this space. Both experiences resonated with me and highlighted the utmost importance of sustainability for business.

Why did you choose to join Sancroft?

While working within financial institutions gave me an excellent grounding and understanding of the importance of sustainability, finance and management, Sancroft works at the forefront of sustainability and is constantly solving challenges for both its corporate and financial clients. Sancroft offers its clients a wide array of services, and I was keen to challenge myself across this spectrum; from providing regulatory advice to developing decarbonisation strategies and creating stakeholder engagement. The team is highly motivated and brings together a wealth of experience from different backgrounds.

What have you been most proud of in your career so far?

Aside from my commercial focus, I am a true believer in diversity and inclusion. I am proud to have set up the “women in finance” committee at my previous firms, which created an environment to encourage knowledge sharing, support excellence and foster network development across various roles and levels of seniority.

What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

I hope to be able to use my previous experience to scale impactful change alongside our clients. I want to foster a transparent and collaborative environment where we are able to address all parts of the sustainability sphere and build a brighter future together.

What can Sancroft clients expect from working with you?

An experienced advisor with a commercial mindset who will seek to develop achievable solutions to address your most complex challenges, whilst always maintaining a sense of realism.

And finally, what do you get up to when you’re not advising our clients?

I am a keen sports enthusiast and thoroughly enjoy all that nature has to offer. I play competitive mixed netball and love running, hiking and cycling. This has led me to take on challenges for charity, including cycling from London to Paris for Mind, hiking the three peaks for Shelter and I will be running the 2025 London Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support. Aside from sport, I enjoy socialising with friends and working my way through the great parks and pubs that London has to offer.
