On 24 June 2026, Sancroft held an event which looked at how collaboration across the value chain can shape a more sustainable and resilient built environment.
The built environment faces pressure from resource constraints, tightening regulation, slim margins and a changing climate, and clients increasingly expect a credible sustainability story from their partners. Opened by Lord Deben, we brought together a panel of Cressida Curtis (Wates Group), James Ritson (University of the Built Environment), Ruth Shilston (Mott MacDonald) and Cat O’Donovan (IHG Hotels and Resorts), with leaders from across construction, development, real estate and estates management.
We explored:
- How the construction industry can move towards net zero where key inputs have no clear pathway to zero emissions
- How to build low carbon design and climate resilience into project specifications when margins are tight
- How to weigh uncertain future climate impacts against design decisions made today
- Opportunities for interactive discussion and networking with sustainability peers
