Ilkka joined Sancroft in 2021 bringing diverse experience working at a private-equity circular economy investor, a behavioural science start-up focused on reducing emissions through operational efficiency, and an environmental consultancy unlocking conservation finance solutions across Europe and Africa.
He completed his MSc in Carbon Management at the University of Edinburgh, where his research analysed the impacts of climate change on specialty-coffee grown in Colombia and its implications on one of its customers – a small-scale coffee roastery based in Aarhus, Denmark. Ilkka also holds a first-class MA (Hons) in International Business from Heriot-Watt University, spending a year on exchange in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
At Sancroft, Ilkka is particularly interested in the circular economy, ESG integration in investment practices, and developing sustainability strategies that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and necessary climate action to reduce emissions in line with a 1.5oC global warming pathway.
